The U.S. government will soon require South Florida check cashers to ask for extra identification from people looking to cash federal income tax refund checks larger than $1,000 to crack down on identity theft.
Check-cashing companies will have to collect identification, take a digital photograph and get a telephone number and thumbprint from the customer at the time of the transaction. The rule applies to Miami-Dade and Broward counties from Aug. 3 to Jan. 30. Read more at Daily Business Review....
